Things have been a bit strange this past week.

Oko got five teeth and didn’t even complain. Said he was too tough, started calling himself ‘The Honey Badger’.

And he’s been hanging with some tough aunties from the neighbourhood again.

Bad influences. Playing pool all day. Throwing Sophie the G-raffe on the floor.

Downright dangerous.

Mom decided to call in the big guns…

Mimi. She’d knock some sense into the little rascal!

(thanks Mimi for the tiger!)

Or maybe just dress him in some more age-appropriate clothes. That’d be a start.

(thanks Mimi for the striped PJs with matching hat, size 18 months!)

She set straight to work. She knew the way to a young man’s heart was through his love of small barnyard animals…

And participatory clapping games.

She said, “Oko needs to get out into the countryside more. Away from the hustle and bustle, spend some time in nature.”

So everyone piled in the car and drove to the beach. Oko wasn’t too thrilled about that part.

But their off-key singing won him over and pretty soon he was chillin’ with Papa, cooler than a polar bear’s toenail.

(thanks Mama for the chins!)

They went for a long walk and picked some (not so wild) rosemary for that night’s dinner.

(thanks neighbours for the delicious rosemary!)

He was so calm and contemplative, Mimi even let him chew on the purse-strings.

At the end of the day, he was so tuckered out that he fell right asleep in Papa’s arms, just like the old days.

But the fun wasn’t over… The next day Oko was determined to get back into his game.

So Mimi decided to meet him halfway. “OK, Oko,” she said, “Let’s go to the beach again today — but we can go to your beach…

and chew on some measuring tape.”

“Also,” she continued, “You can continue to dress like a badass. I don’t really mind, as long as your heart’s in the right place.”

And they had a beautiful day in the sun.

Bye-bye!

***Update: the poop-finder’s prize of last week goes to Tessa Vikander, who noticed the yellowish mass underneath the yellow giraffe onesie! What did she get?
